One of the results of the recession has been to reinforce the tendency to opt for term insurance as the first life policy. With the disappearance of credit and the pressure on employment, people have decide to switch to prudence. That means paying down the debts and cutting back on discretionary spending. Is this financial puritanism sensible? There are a number of factors to consider. First, a definition. A term policy is life coverage for a fixed number of years. Think of it as like a bet. If you are still alive at the end of the term, the insurance keeps all the premiums, and you and your dependents get nothing. Now, let’s focus on the psychology of the young. Most never bother thinking about insurance or, if they do, it’s a very low priority. Why bother worrying about something that’s unlikely to happen for decades? Statistically, this is a reasonable view. Just as many young people back their health and refuse to buy an individual health plan, the majority see no advantage in life insurance. Life expectancy has been rising steadily over the last 50 years. This calm confidence lasts until they enter a stable relationship. Until children appear. But, by then, the cost of living has gone up and, potentially, what was two incomes has become one. Then, buying term insurance is the cheap option.

The real question is whether buying a whole life policy early is always the right answer. The argument goes that you take on the higher premiums when, as a young single, you have the most disposable income. Inflation and pay increases slowly make the higher premiums more affordable. If you do become a two-income family, this really takes the pressure off. Hopefully, by the time children come along, you have already produced a financial situation in which the premiums are now affordable. Hmmm. Back to definitions: this policy insures your life, but also has an investment element that builds up a cash value over time. If you keep up the premiums, this provides security during retirement and for your dependents. Except, people do not make rational financial decisions. The young prefer to enjoy their youth rather than stay home and save for their retirement. Worse, the reality of most of the investment elements is that they represent poor performance. If you bought term insurance and invested the balance of the premium saved in regular investments, you would almost certainly do better. The hard reality is the insurance companies charge commissions for setting up your account and then impose management fees for investing your money. This slices the top off the investment returns.

So the conclusion is slightly bad news. The decision on what to buy is not directly related to the life insurance quotes you receive through a site like this. The best value is buying term insurance and having the self-discipline to invest a growing proportion of your income. If you do not have that self-discipline, the whole life, universal and variable policies represent compulsory savings. In effect, you are paying the life company to do the work of investing for you. The perfect choice starts with the life insurance quotes and diverts through the office of an independent actuary who will give you an educated guess on the quality of the investment returns from the whole life policy as against managing your own investments over the next thirty years or so. Now you can decide whether you want to trust yourself or accept a low but guaranteed yield from the insurance company.

There are thousands of telemarketing companies in the United States, and revenues for the industry total about $15 billion per year. The industry is fairly top-heavy. The largest fifty companies earn more than sixty percent of the revenue. The telemarketing industry has been regulated since the passing of The Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991, which made certain practices illegal. For instance, telemarketers are not allowed to call you before 8 am or after 9 pm, and they are required to properly identify themselves and their business. The national Do Not Call Registry, started in 2003, allows consumers to register their phone numbers on a list so most telemarketers cannot call them. Has this made an impact in the telemarketing industry?

When the Do Not Call registry went into place, response was overwhelming. Within just four days of its launch, ten million phone numbers were registered. At its peak, about 158 numbers were being registered per second. With the volume of numbers being taken out of commission as far as telemarketers were concerned, it was estimated that they would lose about half of their yearly revenue. Those who have not registered their phone numbers know that they still receive telemarketing calls, so was the impact that widely felt in the industry?

Telemarketing companies have had to change the way they do business. Because being on the Do Not Call list does not exempt people from getting calls from political campaigns, charities and some nonprofit groups, and companies with whom they’ve done business recently, telemarketers are concentrating their efforts in those sectors. The industry didn’t have to lay off as many people as had been originally feared.

All this means that we still have to deal with telemarketers in our lives. It is always important to be aware of your rights as a consumer as they relate to telemarketers. If you feel you have been harassed or improperly called, file a telemarketing complaint so you can spread the word about that particular company and perhaps help other consumers.

If you have been less than thrilled with the performance of your telemarketing campaigns as of late, perhaps it’s time for a bit of a change; perhaps an outsider’s perspective on your telemarketing operation. It is important to provide the best possible customer service in order to retain the customer loyalty you’ve worked so hard to gain. Your telemarketers should not be a reason for your customers to go elsewhere for the kind of product or service you offer.

Many companies pay far too little attention to the way that their telemarketing campaigns work, or are recorded. Reports are skipped and maybe numbers are a little bit down, the work is still being handled, isn’t it? Management generally lacks in depth training in the field of customer service and also may not have the aforethought to evaluate trends in the field as they develop – this can lead to the call centre being neglected as a crucial part of operations. Before a problem can be identified and handled by management, the damage has already been done; i.e. – existing customers are going elsewhere, and newly delivered leads aren’t of sufficient quality.

Also call centres or internal telemarketing departments need to make a concerted effort to keep up with the pace of the constant evolution of technology and ever changing customer expectations. New challenges and new expectations will be placed before them and they must rise to the task.

Using the services of a telemarketing consultant, a company can spot the coming trends which may cause problems for their campaign and begin to work on the problem before it seriously affects them. A telemarketing consultant should be independent from both client and telemarketers so as to be able to give an objective opinion if the operations of the call centre. This enables the telemarketing consultant to make recommendations free of influence from client or telemarketers.

The consultant will chiefly be responsible for conduction an audit of the telemarketing campaign’s performance as it currently stands. This will entail analysing operational data, observing the centre and listening in on telemarketing staff as they interact with customers. The consultant should also perform a thorough review of management, human resources and training and quality assurance procedures which are in place at the call centre. This will ensure that you are getting your money’s worth for your call centre. The consultant will then make recommendations, including new training or changes to the training procedures currently in place in order to improve performance. Error rates and call rate analysis will also be a part of this process.

A review of software and scripts will also be needed to assess whether the correct information is being conveyed by telemarketing staff and that quality is a paramount consideration in all interactions with customers. Technology used at call centres can sometimes be at fault for difficulties with customer service response. A thorough review of hardware and software in use should be part of the review done by any telemarketing consultant, along with recommendations for improvements in these areas.

The ever-changing field of telemarketing necessitates keeping on top of your customer service – to stop problems before they become a problem. In the current financial climate it is more important than ever to make sure that the telemarketing that your company is paying for, whether that is internally or externally, is delivering the results your company needs.

A self-powered flashlight does not require the recharging of battery. You can supply power through the use of solar energy. This is a good way to cut back on costs and to help preserve Mother Nature.

If you already have an existing LED flashlight, you can easily convert into a solar-powered one. Just use the solar panel from a solar calculator. If you have an old calculator there, you can use that panel.

The next steps are what you will follow:

Step 1: Using a screwdriver, remove the outer shell of the calculator. Get a wire cutter and cut the wires that secure the panel to the calculator. Once you have removed that, set it aside. Make sure the wires are still connected to the panel.

Step 2: Get your LED flashlight. Remove the top lid of the flashlight head and then remove the outer casing. You might also need the screwdriver to remove the covering. Now you can see the parallel board of the flashlight.

Step 3: Next, get the solar panel and attach the wires to the light parallel board of the flashlight. Afterwards, attach it to the switch using a duct tape.

Step 4: Now you can place the panel right in front of the LED lights. Make sure it will not go out of place once you use it. If it is secured tightly, place the top lid back and then reattach the outer covering of the flashlight.

Step 5: Switch it on for approximately 20 minutes. It will try to absorb solar energy. Afterwards, you can leave the switch on and it will continue to absorb solar energy. If you want to turn this off, just cover the top lid of the flashlight with a dark fabric and tuck it away on a dark place. Now you can enjoy the use of your solar powered flashlight.

This is a good choice for mountaineers or camping enthusiasts. Make it a habit to bring with you a self-powered flashlight and a battery-powered flashlight. It is a good choice so you can still have a spare light even though you do not have a spare battery or you forgot to recharge the battery.

Also, this is a good way to conserve energy. During the day, you can have as much solar energy as you can. It provides a cost-effective way of lighting. So try doing this simple project at home.
